Mac mini m1 handbrake12/27/2023 ![]() ![]() I've heard on good authority that x86 chips have an ARM core or two inside. But there can be others doing auxiliary tasks. Sure, I maybe know how many cores are in the M1 Mac, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, Apple Watch, Pi4, Pi3, Pi2, Pi1, Pi Zero, Odroid C3, Odroid XU4, Arty Z7 (ARM cores embedded in an FPGA), Blue Pill, Nucleo. I wouldn't even know how to make an estimate. 32 in my Linux PC, 6 in the AMD 4500U laptop, 4 in the 2017 NUC, 4 in the 2011 MacBook Pro, 2 in the 2011 MacBook Air, 4 in the i7 4790K Linux machine I haven't turned on in five years. It’s almost as bad as what keeps happening to Harrison Ford’s wives/family.Quote from: brucehoult on December 07, 2020, 11:37:35 am I expect i could make a pretty good count of the x86 cores in this house. (But, seriously guys, stop kidnapping Liam Neeson’s family. I have never seen Taken 2 or Taken 3, but I figured for $18 that works out to $6/movie and I can probably squeeze out $6 worth of enjoyment out of each of them. For example, I am currently ripping the “Taken” trilogy which I got from Amazon for $18 when Apple, et al wanted $15 per movie for the digital version. This, of course, makes no sense, but such is the world in which we live. It’s still frequently possible to find good deals on Blu-Rays (often with “digital codes” for MoviesAnywhere) much cheaper than buying the digital copies themselves. I don’t watch Blu-Rays on my Mac, I use MakeMKV to make MKVs of them and then throw them on my Plex server. ![]() However, I think if I was going to get one today I would look at portable blu-ray drives are available at OWC/ as my first stop. I have what I believe to be an older version of this drive Archgon Premium Aluminum External USB 3.0 UHD 4K Blu-Ray. ![]()
